Top seed Taylor Fritz made the Atlanta final topping countryman J.J. Wolf 6-3, 7-5 in the semifinals Saturday.

“It was really solid. I served well the whole match,” Fritz told the ATP. “Whenever I was in trouble I played a lot of good points. I just did what I was supposed to do and didn’t really give him much.”

The American No. 1 was paced by 13 aces, he never dropped serve and broke the 24-year-old Wolf for 6-5 in the second and then served it out.

Fritz makes his 11th career final. He is seeking his 6th career title and first since Delray Beach earlier this year.

A day after eliminated Christopher Eubanks, Aleksandar Vukic upended No. 7 Ugo Humbert 3-6, 7-6(2), 7-5.

The Australian Vukic pounded 17 aces en route to his first career ATP final. The 27-year-old rallied from dropping the first serve to squeeze out a tight second set. He would break early in the third only to give it back, but broke for 6-5. He won 12 of the last 14 points of the match.

“I was getting totally outplayed. He was destroying me and I kind of just relaxed and went for it,” Vukic said to the ATP after.

“I was down 0-1, a mini-break in that tie-break and just kind of went for the return and felt the momentum, felt the crowd and just kind of used it. I broke in the first game of the third and had a little hiccup but recovered, and I couldn’t be happier.”

Fritz made the 2019 Atlanta finals. He has never won a summer hard court title on the ATP circuit.
