Carlos Alcaraz: Everything I’ve Done Is Thanks To Juan Carlos Ferrero
Carlos Alcaraz says he owes all his success to his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero.
The 20-year-old has been with Ferrero for the last five years and since he’s been on a rocket ship not just up the rankings but in tennis history.
Alcaraz after his win last night has won his last 14 matches going into today’s quarterfinal tussle with Tommy Paul at the Canadian Open in Toronto.
“He was my mentor,” Alcaraz said of Ferrero. “Everything that I have done is thanks to him. I learned a lot from him not only in the professional part, even the personal part as well. He’s my second father so he is really important person for me.
“Everything that I’ve came through at the beginning, he was experienced in that moment, and I learned about how to deal in a lot of tough moments, you know, and first things about everything. So I am the person and the player that I am right now thanks to him.”
Ferrero also reached the No. 1 ranking, won a French Open and finished with 16 career titles but Alcaraz has already exceeded him in weeks at No. 1 and Grand Slam title wins, and will soon past him in overall titles.
