Alcaraz Takes Two Honors, Nadal Finally Wins Fan Favorite; 2022 ATP Awards
The Spanish dup of Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal won big this awards season. The ATP released the full list of winners today. Carlos Alcaraz won two awards taking year-end No. 1 and Most Improved Player.
“I’m really happy to receive this award, and I want to say thank you to all my colleagues who voted me as the Most Improved Player of the Year,” said Alcaraz. “For me it’s an amazing achievement. This year has been a really good year for me, a dream year for me.”
Alcaraz’s coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, won Coach of the Year.
Earlier in the week, countryman Rafael Nadal won big as well, finally taking home the Fan Favorite Award which had belonged to Roger Federer from 2003 until this year!
“I am super happy to receive the Fans’ Favorite Award 2022. It makes me feel great. I can’t thank you enough everyone for the support not only for this award, but at the same time for all the support that I receive in every single city and event around the world,” Nadal said. “That means everything to me, so I am very looking forward to 2023 to share a lot of positive things again. See you soon.”
After his strong finish, Holger Rune won Newcomer and Cincinnati champion Borna Coric was named Comeback player.
