Novak Djokovic has reached Australia. The Serb who was infamously deported from the 2022 Australian Open, was re-instituted last month and now has already made the trip.

Djokovic, who will likely go into Melbourne as the tournament favorite, is in Adelaide where he will start his 2023 season next week. The world No. 5 will be joined in the 250 field by Felix Auger-Aliassime, Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune, Andrey Rublev, Jannik Sinner and many other in a strong field.

Djokovic finished 2022 winning another ATP Finals title, and then just finished playing a team exo in Dubai.

After missing the two hard court Slams last year, Djokovic will play at least Australia with the US Open still a question mark. Djokovic is still not able to return to the U.S. due to their vaccination requirement.

PK Says:

Well, I can only hope Novak does not come down with Covid while in Australia.

Tennisfansince76 Says:

@PK he should be fine. He has not taken the experimental gene therapy err vaccine. The people who have submitted to that seem much more susceptible to the coof.

Zed, are you around?

Elizabeth Says:

What the flock is wrong with you, coming over to Tenngrand to take a swipe at me?

Are we not past having useless arguments by now, Wog Boy? I stopped flogging that dead horse a long time ago.

Anyway, my question is serious, and it is about the Polish team playing in Sydney. Do you know who is coaching Iga Swiatek? Is Aga Radwanska there in that capacity, and is the man with Aga, her husband?

No one will answer such a question on TG. Testing this question out on TX.

Wog Boy Says:

Donā€™t give yourself such importance, I didnā€™t come to TG because of you. I go every now and then over there, to check up on my ā€œfriendsā€ and it happened that I saw your political message that I disagreed with, you shouldnā€™t put political message on tennis forum, thatā€™s all, nothing personal. Peace sister ā˜®ļø

Besides, I thought you left TG, not long ago I saw your post in which one you said you wonā€™t be posting anymore on TG since one of those ā€œniceā€ Rafa fans abused you or something like that, then I saw you back here posting.
What happens on TG stay on TG, donā€™t bring it here.

Your second question, yes, Aga is in Brisbane as Poland selector/coach (with husband), but she is not coaching Iga, nor she will.
Iga started to work with Agaā€™ old coach about year ago and it was absolute success, thatā€™s when she rocketed to the top.

Hi WB,

I’m on leave for 3 weeks but I hesitate to say “on holiday” because I’m catching up on duties around the house and I’m working harder than when I’m actually at work.

With regard to the video, yes, the left in journalism (which is about 95% of them) are vile and vicious creatures.

The problem of course is that they get heard by a lot of people and they claim (with no basis) that they speak on behalf of a lot of people.

I personally can’t say what millions of Australians think, I can only say what my friends, family and work colleagues think.

What the vast majority think is that they don’t care. They just don’t care about Novak’s vaccination status, most don’t even care about tennis, for the vast majority it’s soccer, football (Aussie Rules) or cricket depending on the time of the year.

Of the ones that do follow the tennis, they would love to see Novak play live and in person. That’s pretty hard to do as tickets for the QF onwards are sold out or nearly so and in the earlier rounds it’s a bit of pot luck whether you can see him live.

Whilst I do find that most people around me are greatly influenced by the media I don’t see many of them having any anger at Novak. As I said, most just don’t care. To be honest, most of those that follow tennis are Roger or Rafa fans because they’ve been trained to be so but the urging and training to hate doesn’t seem to have worked as well. I think it’s because when they actually see him speak for himself they don’t see the devil that the media tells them he is.

I’ve only met journalists in person a few times and to the best of my recollection they were all dickwads. They don’t get paid a lot and that bothers them. My wife worked for the ABC for a time and ABC personnel in particular receive miniscule salaries and so are bitter towards “capitalism” and want to see greater wealth distribution (i.e. more taxpayer money to themselves of course).

p.s. what is “TG” ?

Wog Boy Says:

Hi Zed,

I will be in Melbourne for the first two rounds, I canā€™t buy tickets until day ahead since I donā€™t know when and where they will roster Nole.
I always go for a beer or two in my favourite ā€œThe Crafty Squireā€ pub, which is around the corner from my hotel in CBD, before I walk down to RLA for my day of tennis, so if you are around pop in for the good craft beer.

I love Melbourne, if I have to choose again, I would choose Melbourne to live in, but when I moved the countries my best friend, that I grew up with, already moved to Sydney, so I moved too.

Melbourne more European city than Sydney.

TG stands for Tenngrand, which is Rafa fans forum, I love occasionally going there, into the Lionā€™s den, the place the more you rubbish Nole the more you are respected, no much difference from TX except this was always Federer forum, thatā€™s why is dying out now;)

Alison hodge Says:

Happy New year to all my fellow TX posters, Goddess Blessings to you all XX

zed Says:

WB, yes let’s work that out. It would be great to meet and have a beer. You can then confirm for the people on this forum how good looking I am :)

We can work out a day and a time and have some cold ones.
