2024 US Open Day 10: Americans 3-0, Pegula v Swiatek, Sinner v Medvedev

It’s a big final day of quarterfinal play at the US Open with oppurtinity and intrigue.
The day session sees some surprising matchups with Karolina Muchova coming back from wrist surgery to return to the US Open quarterfinals for a second straight year. The versatile Czech will try to win her fourth straight over Beatriz Haddad Maia. The Brazlian lefty Haddad Maia will try to become the first Brazilian to make the US Open semifinals in 56 years.
After three straight Grand Slam quarterfinals, Alex de Minaur hopes this is the day he reaches his first Slam semifinal. He’ll be the favorite against first-time Slam quarterfinalist Jack Draper, and he’s defeated the Brit in all three of their prior collisions.
Draper, though, has yet to drop and dropped serve just once in four matches.
At night, both world No. 1s figure to be under pressure.
Iga Swiatek meets Jessica Pegula for a 10th time with Swiatek leading 6-3. They went 2-2 last year with Swiatek closing the year with a decisive win in the WTA finals. Americans, though, have been perfect in the quarterfinals this year at 3-0.
And then Jannik Sinner will try to reach his first US Open semifinal against former winner Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev had won the first six over the Italian, then Sinner won five straight in the last year before Medvedev stopped the rot at Wimbledon.
