54 Comments for Rafael Nadal Career Achievements And Records

Alison hodge Says:

Incredible just incredible nothing else to say

skeezer Says:

These are GOAT like numbers, some of these records Fed nor Djoker will never ever touch.
RAFA!

Giles Says:

Can’t even begin to choose a substitute favourite!
Rafa is the reason I started watching tennis. There is a big gaping hole now.

Alison hodge Says:

Skeezer is right, Rafa also has records that won’t be touched, his and his alone, nobody elses

chrisford1 Says:

The Saudi’s new, welcome 6 Kings Exo is underway. 6 players, with the 2 Legends Nadal and Djokovic getting byes until the semis.
Sinner beat Medvedev and will face Novak again, and Alcaraz beat Rune to face Nadal in the other Semi.
I expect both Nadal and Djokovic to lose, and by the format of the Saudi’s event, that luckily entails a 3rd Place fight. Like at the Olympics. So Djokovic-Nadal will happen again, I think, but as an Exo, it won’t count as another Nadal loss against Djokovic, assuming Novak prevails.

The Crown Prince has to be happy this is going to come down to a fight between the two current best, and the consolation game between the two Legends. As good a show as possible I think, in this new tennis venue, and aLL the players get 1.5 million to appear and play, and the overall winner gets 6 million (more than any of the traditional SLAM awards those organizers give out).

Alison hodge Says:

Whoopee doo doo the last instalment of a Rafole match up then we can thankfully close the chapter for good hooray, sorry but everything gets old after a while, bring on Alcasin 🙏

chrisford1 Says:

No shade on Nadal, so to speak, but it might be good he retired now, health-wise. He was starting to need gobs of sunscreen on the top of his head.

Maybe Novak will be a sport and let Rafa win. This match is for the fans and the Saudis, not any record book.

Wog Boy Says:

Rafa aged really quickly, looks older than his age, his physique changed for a difference of other two, I wander what is the reason for premature aging…though I heard a theory why some sportsmen are aging faster than others…but I don’t believe it….

Okiegal Says:

There will never be another Rafa! I was channel surfing in 2005 and happened on to the French Open. There was this kid dressed in pirate attire. I thought that was a little odd, but he got my attention. I watched him win his first Frenchie and I was hooked from that moment on. An amazing athlete. Of all his matches that I watched I think the win over Med at the Aussie Open has got to be my favorite final. It’s hard to pick just one. But I was in awe of him being two sets down and battling back and winning. I mean he was not young when he pulled that off. What a warrior! The top three have entertained us tennis fans for very long time and it’s been AWESOME!! Not gonna lie, I have really dreaded his retirement date. I want to wish him the best of everything for the next phase of his life with family. VAMOS!!

Alison hodge Says:

Hi Okiegal I’m in agreement with you, I remember my dad dying, and watching Rafa back in 2007 at the FO and Queens, I thought this man’s a star, he came close at SW19 a that year too, but just wasn’t quite ready, I knew he’d win Wimbledon sooner or later though, went unbeaten on grass in 2008 winning Queens and SW19 b2b, FO, SW19 and an Olympic gold medal on HCs to mark an incredible year, he didn’t seem to get enough credit for that year, don’t know why

As for what he looks like, and how he’s aged, well he’s aged, people do, but he looks in fine fettle from where I’m standing, baldness or not lol

Okiegal Says:

Hi Al!! The end to an era that’s been over the top! I think back on his standout matches, and it’s just like it was yesterday! But it’s been 20 years. Another match that I’ll always remember was the Verdasco match at the AO. A real nail biter. Two Spaniards giving their all. My saddest one was also in Australia against Stan the man. I felt so sad for him that night. He did not want to stop do he played on. Wow, what a career he’s had. Fed and Novak, two other amazing athletes right by his side! Yep, I’m gonna miss these battles. I think it will be fun to see if their kiddos love the sport like their Dads!!

Okiegal Says:

Oh Alison, I forgot to address Rafa’s balding problem. Balding is usually a hereditary thing, but looking at all of his uncles and Dad, they all have tons of hair. Now if balding comes from the Mom’s side of the family, there’s that. But knowing what a worry wart Rafa is, maybe stress?? Genes or stress…. who knows???? But I’m gonna miss his bald
spot at the Frenchie next year!! 😊😊

chrisford1 Says:

Hello all. Riyadh invested in some great graphics (with painful flaws).
But aside from nit-picking on photoshop-pro stuff done by an amateur, some really awesome portraits that look just fine.

Hope yah like! There’s more if you look on X, google…
Keep in mind that the winner gets more prize money than at any Slam, by far. And all the rest get a million dollar check. And total hospitality during the tournament – dances, sports, greeting young Saudi players, dinners, tours..

chrisford1 Says:

Didn’t take my last post. Maybe Sean allows only 1 link.

The 6 Kings promo pics look awesome.

chrisford1 Says:

The 3 best promo pics, IMO, were Rafa, Holger, and Novak.

Alison hodge Says:

Okiegal yes that is up there with the very finest Rafa matches, verdasco 2009 AO, Meddy 2022 AO, SW19 2008 Federer, amongst others, it’s not about rivalries for me, in sport these things get old after a while, I’ve never cared who he beats, it’s about which of his matches stood out, but that’s just me, there are so many amazing Rafa matches, it’s difficult to choose lol

Alison hodge Says:

Sinner Alcaraz matches are quite entertaining

Wog Boy Says:

Nole vs Rafa match was quite entertaining too, no?

I guess it’s worth mentioning that the greatest rivalry in tennis history has officially ended, hardly to ever be seen again, the last match has been played on Saudi ambassador ground.

Alison hodge Says:

It was about watching Rafa for me nothing else, that rivalry became too predictable in the end, and everything gets old eventually, sorry JMO, I’m entitled to it, go forth and rejoice

Alison hodge Says:

I enjoyed Fedal more

Giles Says:

https://x.com/nadalprop_/status/1847721207426330903?s=61 Wow. Rafa has TWO gold medals and in addition a beautiful Golden Racquet. Well done Champ! Never to be forgotten! 😍😍😍😍😍😍

Alison hodge Says:

Aww thanks for sharing that Giles, it really is superb what he has achieved, now a gold racquet, gold, gold, gold, for a golden player 🥇🥇🥇

Wog Boy Says:

ATP says 1 gold, team sports don’t count, Nole is even better at Olympics, one gold and one bronze:

Check the numbers from official ATP site:

https://www.atptour.com/en/news/djokovic-olympics-2024-big-titles-kings

There can be only one GOAT, the other is runner up.

Wog Boy Says:

ATP finals big fat 0 (ZERO) it’s a bit embarrassing, isn’t it?

Alison hodge Says:

https://youtu.be/1r4sDhCB71Q?si=XpuAGfHYtGmiglsk when Rafa carried the torch at the Olympics, something his fans will never forget 🥇

Alison hodge Says:

OMG can’t Nadal and his fans, just enjoy what he has achieved, rather than been about what he hasn’t, good god, why does every conversation turn into a conversation about Novak, it’s Nadals time, Novak will get his when he retires whenever that may be jeez

skeezer Says:

@Rafa fans pay no attention to Djoker fan jealously, Rafa has records that will never be broken by Djoker.

Alison hodge Says:

Well said Skeezer thank you 🤗

Wog Boy Says:

“…. Djoker fan jealousl….”

🤣🤣😂, stop projecting, you can’t be jealous on person who crossed the finish line way after you did it.
I do understand your suffering, jealousy was overwhelming feeling after you opened ATP link and saw your man legging 18 (eighteen) bog titles behind The GOAT and with one 0 (zero) against his name too, well….such is life 🤷🏻‍♂️

Giles Says:

lol BOG boy. Rafa reduced your “ boy “ to tears many times on court. Rafa’s legacy will live forever. Dunno much about your racquet smashing faker. At least he won’t be honoured with a golden racquet and rightly so! Pfffft

Giles Says:

Bog boy. Thank goodness your faker didn’t win the $6million. Hahaha

Alison hodge Says:

It’s Rafas time, so can’t him and his fans just enjoy his time, if it’s not a problem, or too much to ask🤔

Giles Says:

Rafa is happy and so are his fans.

Alison hodge Says:

Exactly

Wog Boy Says:

Gisele my dear girl, surely you are not that dumb?!

Why Saudi Ambassador cannot miss the chance to talk about a records and Nole even not being asked that question, every single interview since Nole broke his record he is talking about records and Nole?!

Read that link that you gave us carefully, it’s not rocket science that he was and is obsessed with records and Nole.

Have you ever heard Roger talking about his broken records?

Wog Boy Says:

Golden racquet, hmm?

Saudi Ambassador golden racquet is copy cat, check who got golden racquet last year for breaking the record:

https://youtube.com/shorts/sIto–osv54?si=YdCaUYuBGMfFg33n

Wog Boy Says:

$6 million … hmm?

Prize money:

US$185,065,269 > US $134,946,100

Left him in the dust 😉

Wog Boy Says:

Ok girls, I’ll leave you grieving in peace:

https://youtu.be/77LMoxZ7q1w?si=_5MpD0n8t64ZTB17

Alison hodge Says:

Why not just read name this forum Novak extra, no other player is allowed their time or their moment, the whole thread has been ruined, thanks very much

Giles Says:

Hahaha. Faker’s golden racquet was prolly gold plated!

Giles Says:

Inspite of all faker’s achievements on court he still doesn’t have the love and respect from fans or the public around the world. I would say he is the most hated player ever!

chrisford1 Says:

When you are a legend and regularly making news on and off-court, Alison, you get coverage. That is Djokovic. That is the way it is.

Giles – The 23rd Slam gold racket Novak got from Head was 24 carat gold HE over bronze. The video Wog Boy had kindly posted shows Novak really appreciative of the gesture. And now, with Rafa’s racket, Novak praised the gift. Very happy for the unique honor the Saudis gave Rafa – his is solid .585 (14K American) gold over 2 kilograms and worth 270,000 just for scrap.
Only you or people like you would nitpick over gift value.
PS – the gift Novak always has with him is a blessing stone from a Serbian Orthodox saint. Not worth anything..
Novak praised his hosts in a photo montage – them and the land, architecture, the people he met.
https://tennistonic.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Djokovic-publishes-loving-pictures-of-his-staying-in-Saudi-Arabia.jpg

Wog Boy – thanks for the vids. Dean Martin – always enjoyed his act. Still a good guy, a true Italian Rocky who started in boxing and found his gift for taking over a scene when he got bit acting parts was his true calling. Never met him. He had some sad years in his older age. Never met him but have a connection I guess from hiking in San Berdoo and on a trail on San Gorgio Mountain, found pieces of the F-4 Phantom his son Dean Paul Martin Jr was flying. We knew of the many crashes on the peak and the Park’s instruction to not take pieces. His son, BTW, was a top tennis player who made the pros abut decided on acting. He was a ladies man who dated many of the women players in the 80s.

Djoko has cancelled Paris-Bercy. He will see Rafa off in Spain’s Davis Cup Finals in Spain. Then Turin is thought unlikely, but he looks like he will still qualify for the ATP Finals. He ought to go. Especially if he is going as an alternate. No play, just parties, schmoozing, and meet and greets with corporate sponsors…

ATP makes significant effort to keep players spouses and kids that show for the ATP Finals which the ATP wants to get the level of attention and money the Slams not owned by ATP get – happy, visible, and involved. But as GOAT, or one of tennis’s GOATS defined from the eras that they played in – he really has nothing to prove. His wife has said she has not pushed Novak to retire, but support him if he wishes to continue, and support him in a way that he gets more success from her support.

Another path he could take is opting for more surgery on his right knee meniscius ligament. With time to rehab and practice for the AO.

Alison hodge Says:

No other player is allowed their moment, I repeat Novak extra, whatever the topic, whomever the player, you turn it into a Novak conversation, this was about Rafa, and it’s turned into a thread about your idol, Novak this, Novak that, Rafa has a boat, but Novak has one bigger, Rafa has lovely hair, but Novaks is better, Rafa was voted is the best dressed, oh but Novak is better dressed, Rafa likes Elvis, oh but so does Novak etc etc, the Novak Djokovic fan club, wake up and smell the restraining order

Alison hodge Says:

All the best to Dominic Thiem as he has officially retired from tennis, all the best in your future endeavours 🎾🤗

chrisford1 Says:

Dominic Thiem vs. Big 3

5-7 vs Djokovic
6-10 vs Nadal
5-2 vs Federer

BEST overall record against the 3 of ANY PLAYER inc. Juan Martin Del Potro and Andy Murray.
A writer called his being stopped on injury as “Greatness interrupted”. Many felt the same way about Andy and Delpo.

Alison hodge Says:

A talented player that like so many players before him underachieved

Wog Boy Says:

CF1,
Agree, Dean Martin was one of a kind, I loved him.

Regarding Nole, he finished the year, next tournament will be AO. Nole said recently that he is not really interested in playing Turin even if he qualifies, which he still has a good chance without playing Paris, but even then he’ll give his spot to next ranked player.
Nole is flying to Argentina to play with Delpo and honour the retirement of his genuine great friend (1st of December) he is also going to Spain to pay respect to Rafa retirement and that’s it for this year, he is taking it easy and enjoying the near end of the greatest tennis career ever .

Alison hodge Says:

https://youtu.be/PEkZYXiWaSs?si=ywPo4qClW2ZsPFb6 the other players have their say now too

Alison hodge Says:

Anyway hopefully Rafa will stay in the world of tennis within some capacity, coaching or whatever, something 🎾🤗

Alison hodge Says:

Okiegal if your reading just wanted to say that Scoot Dimon on Tenngrand tennis send me a nice message about Clive, wishing him well after his stroke and heart attack, earlier this year, just like Sean did here for you 🤗
