The Ilie Nastase group is loaded with Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz and newcomer Alex de Minaur. John Newcombe has the favorites Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz, but Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev have struggled down the stretch.
Nastase is indeed nasty with even de Minaur a threat. Sinner hasn’t played in a month, Medvedev has been uneven, Fritz has been playing well and so too has de Minaur.
Zverev and Medvedev are the lone former champions in action.
The event begin on Sunday.
