2024 ATP Finals Field Set With Sinner, Alcaraz, Zverev The Favorites
With Novak Djokovic opting out of the ATP Finals which begin Sunday, the field for the year-end event has been set.
Today, Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev completed the 8-man field.
PARTICIPANTS:
1 Jannik Sinner – Has never won in Turon
2 Alexander Zverev – 2-time ATP Finals winner
3 Carlos Alcaraz – Seeking first big late-season title
4 Daniil Medvedev – Former ATP Finals champion
5 Taylor Fritz – Made semifinals at 2022 Finals
6 Novak Djokovic – Withdrew
Casper Ruud – 2022 finalist returns to Turin for third time
8 Alex de Minaur – Making ATP Finals debut
9 Andrey Rublev – Fifth straight year, but just 4 wins at event
Jannik Sinner has already wrapped up the year-end No. 1, but can either the Italian or Alcaraz win the title. If not them, will the veterans Zverev or Medvedev win another or a new face ascend to the throne.
Djokovic won’t play so for the first time since 2001 there are no Big 3 members in the event.
De Minaur is the lone new face as he becomes the first Australian singles player to compete in the season finale since Lleyton Hewitt made the final in 2004.
The Finals will award $15.25 million total in prize money, with the singles champion having the chance to earn a record-breaking $4.8 million — just shy of the $5.15 million the women are getting from Saudi Arabia.
The draw will be made Thursday afternoon with play set to begin on Sunday.
