2014 ATP Finals Profile: Andy Murray
ANDY MURRAY
Age: 27
Current ATP Rank: 6
2014 Highlights: 3 titles – Valencia, Vienna, Shenzhen; SFs at French, QFs at Australia, Wimbledon and US Open
ATP Finals History: 6th appearance, 3-time SF but has never made the finals; missed last 2013 but made SF in 2012 losing to Federer
Notable Stat: Tore up the Fall going 20-3 since the US Open with two losses to Djokovic and a throwaway loss to Ferrer in Shanghai last week in Paris
Finals Outlook: It’s a tough group but based on the way he’s been playing – three titles down the stretch – I think it’s manageable. I make him the clear favorite to beat Nishikori and even upend Federer. Maybe Raonic trips him up but I like him to still win the group. Remember, this is Murray’s first appearance in the event as a Wimbledon champion, so that should ease some of the pressure he’s faced in the past. Plus, he handled the pressure pretty well of having to qualify, didn’t he?
Swing Match: v Federer
Projected Finish: 1st In Group B (2-1)
Next player evaluation: Kei Nishikori
