Rafael Nadal Steers Boat in Balearic Islands Tourism Ad [Video]
by Tom Gainey

I’m sold! Rafael Nadal appears in this Balearic Islands tourism ad which features the World No. 1 at the wheel of a yacht.

I know Nadal is a fisherman and has had experience on a boat, but I had to chuckle at the sight of Nadal. He just looks funny.

The ad is great and very refreshing. And if I could move to the Balearic Islands right now I would. It looks damn beautiful. The islands which are just off the east coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea include Rafa’s hometown of Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera.

Nadal has been a chief promoter of the islands since 2009. Carlos Moya is also from Mallorca.

If you haven’t seen it (this ad came out earlier in the year), here’s the video:

Nadal (heavily sunscreened) boards a ship-to-shore dinghy, off the coast of Formentera, going to the beach with friends for swimming, soccer & lunch two days ago:

Anna Says:

Wow, thanks for this video. Wish the Balearic Islands weren’t half way around the world. Tom, maybe it seems funny to you to see Rafa sailing instead of playing tennis, but he looks like a natural born sailor to me. Breath taking beauty.

TomA Says:

Bloody Nadal has signed on for the Thailand Open, a crappy 250 event, meaning he’ll be playing 3 weeks in a row. Silly man!
If I were him I’d only play in the Grand Slams and Masters events.

Ela Says:

I agree I have no idea why he goes to play in Thailand. Are they paying him extra for the appearance? stupid

Anna Says:

Rafa may be trying to make amends with Thailand after pulling out last year. Thailand is struggling both politically and economically. I’m sure having the #1 player in the world show up to there little tournament would be a boon. If the knees are a problem then he’ll have no choice but to pull out again.

potito Says:

Hey, Tom,

Nadal’s home town is Manacor, on the island of Mallorca, no?

fae Says:

@ Potitio, yes it is Manacor and I went this year with my family and friends to Majorca and visited Manacor with my son. I watched the French open final in my hotel room I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. The belearic islands are beautiful, we also visited Porto cristo where Nadal has a beautiful home, its not unlike Monto carlo, really nice.
Rafa is looking really hot here, he seems to get more handsome with age, but his body well that has always been stunning!
