How cool would it be to hit with Roger Federer? Several aspiring tennis pros in Shanghai had just that opportunity yesterday.
The 16-time Grand Slam champion participated in the tennis clinic in promotion of the Shanghai event and as part of the Mercedes-Benz “Swing for the Stars” Junior Tennis Development Program which is designed to help grow junior tennis in China.
“I feel so excited to meet my favorite tennis star, Federer,” said 12-year-old Lv Chengze told Cri. “I could not even fall asleep when thinking about that. I really learned a lot of techniques I’ve never tried before by playing with the superstar.”
Federer will play the winner of John Isner and Lukasz Kubot when he opens play in the second round next week. It’s Federer’s first tournament since his thrilling semifinal loss to Novak Djokovic in the US Open semifinals last month.
