Juan Martin Del Potro: “I Am Not Thinking About Djokovic Yet” [Video]
It’s good to have Juan Martin Del Potro back in the tennis fray. The Argentine played his first French Open match in two years and made it a good one defeating the dangerous Ivo Karlovic 67(7) 63 75 64 in the first round.
Karlovic served 22 aces but Del Potro broke the Croatian three times today. And he never lost serve.
Next up for the US Open champion is Blaz Kavcic who beat Ernests Gulbis yesterday. If he wins Novak Djokovic could be his third round opponent, a meeting many of us tennis fans would love to see. But Juan Martin says don’t look ahead just yet.
“I’m not thinking about Djokovic yet,” said Del Potro who reached the French Open semifinals in 2009. “I have first my second round on Wednesday. It will be really difficult.”
Regarding his hip injury which forced him to withdraw from Madrid, Del Potro was cautious. “It’s getting better. Slowly getting better and still recovering from this injury, and hopefully be ready for my next match.”
