Watch Novak Djokovic Eat the Wimbledon Grass [Video]
We have been so accustomed to seeing Rafael Nadal take a bite out of the Grand Slam trophies in recent years, now it’s Novak Djokovic’s turn. Today, after defeating the Spaniard in four sets Djokovic to win Wimbledon, Djokovic fell to his knees and proceeded to eat and swallow a few blades of green grass off the Center Court lawn.
“I felt like an animal,” Novak joked. “I wanted to see how it tastes. It tastes good. It just came. I don’t know. It came spontaneously really. I didn’t plan to do it. You know, I didn’t know what to do for my excitement and joy.”
I hope the grass was gluten free!
In keeping with tradition, Djokovic will join women’s champion Petra Kvitova at the Wimbledon champions ball this evening. Both are well-deserved first-time Wimbledon winners.
