Following his big win Monday, Rafael Nadal arrived at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle yesterday where the tournament rolled out the welcome mat. Upon arriving at the tournament hotel, Nadal was greeted by tournament head Ralph Weber who presented the Spaniard with a cake celebrating his record seven French Open titles.
“I am delighted to be able to play here at Halle at last,” Nadal said. “Many thanks for the fantastic reception.”
Nadal is scheduled for doubles with countryman Marcel Granollers later today. Rafa returns to singles action tomorrow, as does Roger Federer.
Nadal played Halle only once before losing first round to Alexander Waske in 2005.
