Tarnish American Wayne Odesnik is still playing tennis. It was learned just a few weeks ago that the 24-year-old was a caught transporting human growth hormone (HGH) while trying to enter into Australia in January. ADHEREL

Faced with a two-year-old doping suspension and much outrage from his fellow players, Odesnik is still playing tournaments, including the Houston clay tournament which begins on Monday.

In the first round Odesnik will play someone I’ve never heard of, 19-year-old Jerzy Janowicz of Poland.

I have to scratch my head as the last place I’d want to be if I was him would be out on a public tennis court until the case is settled, but I give him some credit for getting out there and trying. I guess he’s willing to take the heat.

Von Says:

Maybe Odesnik does not feel it’s wrong to use HGH. Over the past year, I’ve read several articles on HGH and heard many commercials touting the efficacy of it’s use, with respect to building muscles, smoothing out wrinkled skin, et al. And, to add insult to injury, it’s being sold in Health food stores and touted by some doctors, as the new fountain of youth.

Andrew Miller Says:

Odesnik is still a tennis player, it’s part of his identity. Take that aware and it’s even worse. I am sure he’d rather face the fire than stay at home. Plus, pays the bills.

Texastennis Says:

I find it incredible that Odensik is playing this tournament – he pleaded guilt to possession and possession is sufficient for a doping ban. Apparently nobody in tennis cares about the players doing drugs – full speed ahead everyone…

Tom Says:

i have never liked odesnik and i think that he shouldnt be allowed to play houston he deserves to get a 2 year ban.
