According to Argentine press, Juan Martin Del Potro was dealing with more than his opponent on Saturday when he was upset by Tobias Kamke in the second round of the Miami Sony Open.

Via translation, Del Potro revealed that he wasn’t in the best of moods on that day because of a health issue with a family member. He added that he didn’t want to make excuses, but he wasn’t focused on tennis on that.

The press also reported that the former US Open champion will use this break to take care of a grade 1 sprain to his left wrist (not the surgically repair right one). His next event is Estoril on April 29.

That’s too bad; hopefully whatever it is doesn’t affect him going forward.

Big hi to tennis-x regulars — Wogboy, allison, mat4, grendel, skeezer, and others! Great to see that all of you seem to be around; been insanely busy for months… not following tennis much.

I know it is late to say this; still… congrats to Rafa fans! Didn’t expect Rafa to come back this strongly this soon… Could well be his year (i mean, if he did this well at IW after a 7 month break who will bet against him on clay and even Wimby).

Harry thanks nice to see you posting again too.
