Juan Martin Del Potro’s PR manager, Jorge Viale, confirmed that the Argentine World No. 5 had several of his personal belongins stolen today from a Paris train station.

According to Viale:

This morning, around 11 am in Paris, Juan Martin del Potro’s briefcase was stolen while he was checking in at the Gare du Nord train station on his way to London to take part in the World Tour Finals.

“I was finishing the check-in and was asked for an autograph. I turned around to sign it and within 20 seconds, it was stolen,” said Del Potro.

He was keeping his passport in that case, along with money and other personal belongings. “My Rosary blessed by Pope Francis, which I carried everywhere. That’s what matters most to me,” said Del Potro, who met the Pope this year in Rome.

Del Potro arrived in London and was drawn into the same group as Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Richard Gasquet.

I wonder if D.P. was set up with the autograph seeker?

The Great Davy Says:

Autograph?

…What this means?

Patson Says:

This sucks. I hope he gets the briefcase back. Interpol should get right on the case. Big Delpo needs that briefcase back !

Great Davy,

Let me explain to you in a way that you can understand. Autograph is given to someone who appreciates it. It can be compared to tanking a match in return for a favor (I am sure you can relate this instinctively).

madmax Says:

Not nice that there are people like this who would want to do such a thing.

Couldn’t make out whether they did take his rosary, in his wallet? If they did, wish they would give that back, at the very least, to Juan.

It would mean nothing to them and everything to him.

M Says:

Has he recovered his stuff? Did they make any progress on catching the person who did it?

So sad this happened.
:-(

Tennis X Hippy Chic Says:
