In what will go down as one of the best points of the season, Novak Djokovic took the opening set from Rafael Nadal thanks to this incredible point.

Djokovic should off his defense, his speed and quickness to get the job done. And it wasn’t for not as he took the second set to win the match 7-5, 7-6(4).

“I thought towards the end of both sets I managed to find an extra gear and come up with some important play, aggressive play,” Djokovic said. “I think I won maybe a couple points more than him in the match, so that says enough about how even, you know, this encounter was.”

Djokovic will await the Kei Nishikori-Dominic Thiem winner in the Saturday semifinals.

George Says:

“I’m not disappointed. I was competing at the highest level against the best player. Playing a match like this gives me confidence,” Nadal, who is now winless against Djokovic in their past seven FedEx ATP Head2Head meetings, added. “I’m happy to be part of this rivalry. We’ll talk about this when we finish our career, hopefully a long time from now.

“I feel lucky and unlucky at the same time, to be playing in the same era as [Novak].”

RZ Says:

Shows how you have to keep trying. Just get the ball back in and good things can happen.

Markus Says:

Nadal just put into words what I always thought. Players don’t care who they beat, winning is winning even if that means you have to be in that weak era crap theory.

Michael Says:

That is sheer jaw dropping stuff of a legend by Novak. What a recovery ? What a kind of dogged defence ? Simpy amazing and marvelous !!

I have no words to describe some of his incredible reflexes which has just no parallel in Tennis. Andy, may be, comes a bit close to Novak in that department.

Green Lady Says:

Amazing point, just amazing how on earth did he get to that ball lol ?….

Margot Says:

Hi GL. Reminds of USOpen Nole v Fed., that point. Similar critical point at very critical stage in the match.
