Now Djokovic ties with Fed for 5 year end #1s. Sampras has 6. Happy Marian Vajda was named by the other coaches as coach of the year. Not back for a guy that thought he was retired, and an award Novak made easier to decide on by Djokovics general suckitude before Vajda came back and helped set him straight again.
Congrats to Rafa for winning Federer’s award. As Djokovic will never win it, he should start his own award, the Djoker Gracious Loser Cup. Would be nice if someone with a lower Tour ranking got the Edberg/Fed trophy – great sportsmen like Kevin Anderson, David Ferrer, Juan del Potro, etc.

Alex Says:

It is amazing to see these 3 still dominating the tennis world, it is incredible for RF for 16 years in a row to be the fan favourite, I think that there is no competition there.. it is just incredible how loved he is.

I fully agree on Djokovic being the comeback player of the year, to some extent I think that he won Wimbledon by luck but it gave him motivation to push further, I was a little surprised how he was the dark horse and flew under the radar.

Nadal, is always such a great sport but i think this may have gone to someone else, such as anderson..

I would like to focus on the fresh face, tsitsipas and de minuar, these are the next gen… it is incredible to see almost 50% of the top 20%, mostly the top 10-20, as the next gen…

the change is definitely in the air.. it is an exciting area.

In any event, nice summary of the event.

Margot Says:

Alex: Munar has done well too, had never heard of him till now, but beat Tiafoe.I’m wondering if he’s related to Carla SN., He’s incredibly like her.
I think Stephanos should win the whole thing, he’s making bigger waves on the main tour than Alex.

Giles Says:

Alex. Why Anderson? What did he do to deserve the Award?

Tsi Tsi Fly will be the next Federer. Meaning he’s the Next Genner I see him hitting number one out of them all. And that includes Sasha. He has to control his hot temper, pretty much like Federer in his beginnings. He has every shot and plays so easily. Shapo has flair, too. But he wastes too much energy on his shots. The Greek don’t even sweat. He’s also the best mover.

Khachanov has the Big Game. He idolized Delpo, which leads me to think he’ll suffer with his body, too. We’ll see.

Margot Says:

chofer: I adore the gorgeous Greek. Such an easy style, as you say. And he moves like road runner. Needs to come forward a bit tho., seems to play behind the baseline. Sascha’s back hand is an astonishing shot. People seem to find him up himself but he showed another side in the UK while being questioned by a journo from Yorkshire, so light hearted and funny.
And I really like KK. OMG his eyes, no, no sorry I mean his tennis…..;)

Chris Ford. It is even better than that. Fed has 6, not 5 and 4 runner ups. Not bad for a has been.

Great news for all three of our favourite players. A cool write up too.
