Rivals Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer collide Sunday for the Wimbledon title. They are the last two men to win Wimbledon, and after today, between them they will have 13 titles at the AELTC.
Federer will seek a 21st Major, extending his all-time record. And a ninth Wimbledon crown which would equal Martina Navratilova. He’ll also try to become the oldest Grand Slam winner in the Open Era.
Djokovic is trying to repeat again at Wimbledon. The 32-year-old World No. 1 is bidding for a 16th Slam, 5th Wimbledon.
This is the 48th meeting between the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in a Grand Slam men’s singles final in the Open Era – and the 15th at Wimbledon. Of the 47 previous Grand Slam finals between the Top 2 seeds in the Open Era, the No. 1 seed has won 24 times and the No. 2 seed has won 23 times. Of the 14 previous Wimbledon finals between the Top 2 seeds in the Open Era the No. 1 seed has won 8 times and the No. 2 seed has won 6 times.
