Rafael Nadal Practicing On Clay, Doubtful For US Open?
With the US Open just over a month away, it’s getting close to decision time for many top players, especially those who will have to make travel plans to the U.S.
But Rafael Nadal, who hasn’t committed to attending the Open, is preparing by practicing on clay.
The Spaniard who will have Madrid, Rome and the French consecutively after the US Open, has been on court but on clay, not on hard court, leaving many to believe he will pass on his title defense in New York.
If Nadal plays the full revised schedule (not including Washington), he would play Cincinnati, US Open (2 weeks), Madrid and Rome before getting to Paris. That’s five straight weeks of tennis.
Other non-Americans are also faced with a similar decision.
Definitely no #USOpen for Rafael Nadal?
