Danielle Collins came into the summer without a title. Now, she’s got two. Sunday, the former collegiate star at Virginia won her second career WTA title at San Jose defeated Daria Kasatkina 6-3, 6-7(10), 6-1 .

Collins, who won Palmero just last month, claimed Sloane Stephens and Elena Rybakina among her wins this week.

Today, she nearly closed it in straights having served for the match at 5-3 in the second. After missing five match points in that second, she rolled in the third.

The 27-year-old Collins has now won her last 10 matches. She also becomes the sixth player this year to win multiple titles on the WTA.

Kasatkina, who was 2-0 against Collins, was seeking her fifth career title and third of 2021.
