Tournament favorite Daniil Medvedev rolled past fellow Cincinnati champion Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals once again in Ohio.

”It was tough, especially in the second set,” Medvedev said on court. “I had four break points before I broke him. I knew I had to continue to push him. Grigor is an amazing player, but a little bit worse on the backhand, and I like when people slice, so that was a tactic to try to put pressure on him there. Of course, mixed it up with the forehand sometimes and it seemed to work really well.”

Medvedev has now won his last seven matches. Up next is a meeting Friday against 2-time US Open champion Pablo Carreno Busta. The bronze medalist edged Miami champ Hubert Hurkacz in two breakers 7-6(6), 7-6(3).

Stefanos Tsitsipas rallied from a set down to deny Lorenzo Sonego 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. The Italian had chances to go up a set with a break but failed to convert.

“He was going for every single shot and his footwork was close to unbelievable,” Tsitsipas said. “He can do damage against high-ranked players. Things got really difficult in a few moments but I stayed there and waited for the opportunity to present itself.”

Tsitsipas will now take on Felix Auger-Aliassime who upended Matteo Berrettini 6-4, 6-3 for his first win over the Italian.

Alexander Zverev won his 8th straight match cruising past Guido Pella 6-2, 6-3. He’ll now face Casper Ruud who eliminated Diego Schwartzman 6-4, 6-3. Ruud has now won 15 of his last 16 matches.

And Andrey Rublev came from a break down in the second to beat Gael Monfils 7-6(2), 7-6(5) to advance to a meeting with Benoit Paire. Paire stunned former finalist John Isner 7-6(1), 6-7(2), 6-1.
