Top Seeds Medvedev (v Fils), Sinner (v Shelton) Face Tough Openers In Vienna
A very strong field is set for the ATP 500 level event in Vienna this week. No fewer then five Top 10ers are in the draw led by the last four champions: Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev and home hero Dominic Thiem.
And many of the top stars will be tested right from the jump.
Medvedev meets the surging French teen Arthur Fils. Second-seeded Jannik Sinner collides with new ATP champion Ben Shelton and Thiem takes on Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Top seeds are: 1 Daniil Medvedev, 2 Jannik Sinner, 3 Andrey Rublev, 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 5 Alexander Zverev, 6 Tommy Paul, 7 Frances Tiafoe, 8 Karen Khachanov.
The top-seeded Medvedev is projected to meet 8 Khachanov in the quarters, No. 4 Tsitsipas – 6 Paul, No. 5 Zverev – 3 Rublev, and 7 seed Tiafoe – 2 Sinner in the bottom quarter.
The semifinals could see Daniil Medvedev-Stefanos Tsitsipas and in the other half Jannik Sinner-Andrey Rublev.
