Swiatek, Badosa, Gauff Lead 10 Of Top 13 In San Diego

With no China swing, players had to play somewhere and this week 10 of the Top 10 women in the world will be scheduled in San Diego.

The field includes Iga Swiatek, who just made the Ostrava final, along with Paula Badosa, Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff and Garbine Muguruza.

Among the unseeded are Elena Rybakina, Bianca Andreescu, Sofia Kenin, Madison Keys, Sloane Stephens, Danielle Collins and Karolina Pliskova.

With the 28-draw field so strong, there are many tasty first round matches. Rybakina will meet Muguruza in a battle of Wimbledon champions.

Andreescu takes on Liudmila Samsonova, Fernandez faces No. 8 seed Daria Kasatkina, Stephens drew Veronika Kudermetova and Garcia collides with Collins.

Swiatek will open against either Rybakina or Muguruza, with potentially Gauff in the quarters and then Pegula in the semifinals.

Badosa is the second seed and she could run into Garcia in her quarter with Sabalenka or Maria Sakkari in the semifinals.
