Van Persie Says:

Congrats for 378 weeks as Nr. 1, Nole! :)

Wog Boy Says:

I love how TX is enthusiastic in acknowledging Nole breaking yet another record and becoming absolute recorder in both WTA and ATP.
Next one is Margaret Court 24, I have no doubt in my mind that TX will be as enthusiastic as today when that happens.

Have to be a little leery about comingling men and woman’s sport records. Or men in 2023 to men’s tennis ‘records’ from 1896.
Apples and oranges. Novak has exceeded all other pro men at #1 by a full year. And by way of another comparative stretch, Evert-Navratilova has 80 matches while Nadal-Novak have “only” played 59 times. It doesn’t mean that Novak-Rafa have an impossible chance to have a rivalry as great as Evert Lloyd- Navratilova had. They already have had a great rivalry.

378 is impressive in it’s own right. So props to both Steffi Graf and Novak on their unique time as #1 achievement in their respective sports.

Here’s some more footage of how it all started.

Who could have foreseen the events of the next 30 years at that point in time?

Mahut speaking straight facts here.

Why was Federer constantly declared the Goat when Nadal and Djokovic were 5 and 6 years younger than him? Djokovic is on course to absolutely smash records and suddenly it’s a debate. It’s amazing how powerful the media is when it wants to push a narrative. Lebron is somehow better than MJ with 4 titles to 6. I’m not hear to try and convince anyone that Djokovic is the Goat. It’s just amazing the power of the Sports Media.

zed Says:

Dave, the media are complete and utter scum. Always have been always will be.

They lie about everything, every day and multiple times per day.

“Journalists” are almost always voted as the second least trustworthy people in surveys. The least trustworthy are (of course) politicians.

You can’t stop them lying but you have the power to not look, not listen. Do not give them your attention and when you do that, you take away their power.

Great SF lineup. 3 Russian guys, one Serb. Go figure!

ChrisFord1, Wimbeldon officials will be very unhappy :)
