Double Duty Puts Kvitova, Vekic Into Berlin WTA 500 Title Match
Petra Kvitova is once again showing she’s someone to fear at Wimbledon.
The 33-year-old 2-champion at the AELTC cruised into the Berlin final advancing past Ekatarina Alexandrova 6-3, 6-4.
Kvitova earlier had defeated Caroline Garcia on a day when both quarters and semifinals were played due to a complete washout on Friday.
In the final, Kvitova will connect with Donna Vekic who edged Maria Sakkari in her semifinal 6-4, 7-6(10-8). Vekic earlier knocked out 20-year-old lucky loser Elina Avanesyan.
Kvitova makes her 42nd career final, seeking 31st career title. Vekic reaches her 12th career final. She is gunning her 5th career title.
Kvitova leads Vekic 4-1 in their tour-level contests winning most recently in Miami.
