The first big injury news of 2024 belongs, unfortunately, to Karolina Muchova. The oft-injured Muchova announced earlier today on social media that an ongoing right wrist issue will keep her from travelling to Australia.

“Hi fans & friends. This isn’t my favorite thing to share especially at the start of a new season, but unfortunately the pain in a wrist came back in the middle of my tennis preparation.

“I therefore have to postpone the start of the season and fully heal my wrist first. It’s frustrating but I have to keep positive, recover and get ready for the rest of the year. See you in 2025”

Muchova, who made the French Open final and is a former Australian Open semifinalist, hasn’t played since her semifinal loss to Coco Gauff at the US Open.

She finished 2023 at a career-high No. 8 but the wrist prevented her from competing the last two months of the year.
