The 2010 US Open begins on Monday, August 30. Television coverage will be available in the U.S. on a trio of networks: ESPN, CBS and the Tennis Channel. ADHEREL

Tennis Channel’s US Open schedule will air live matches from 11am-1pm during the weekdays, then ESPN2 takes over from 1pm until the completion of play at night.

During the middle weekend, CBS begins their US Open TV schedule with day coverage Saturday, Sunday and Monday from noon until 6pm. Saturday and Sunday evenings Tennis Channel will have the night matches while ESPN2 gets the Labor Day evening contest.

Week two through Thursday is more of the same with Tennis Channel airing from 11am-1pm and ESPN2 finishing the day out from the main show courts.

CBS picks up Friday’s women’s semifinals and continues their live coverage through the weekend with both women’s and men’s finals.

In sum, ESPN2 will have 100+ hours of live coverage and another 400 hours on ESPN3.com which will have also have live online streaming.

ESPN2 will also air a special live draw show this Thursday, August 26 at noon. The program will also be available on ESPN3.com and ESPN Mobile TV.

ESPN’s talent team will include familiar faces Darren Cahill, Mary Carillo, Mary Joe Fernandez, Brad Gilbert, Pam Shriver, Chris Fowler plus Rick Reilly, Tom Rinaldi, Mike Tirico, Hannah Storm and Chris McKendry. John and Patrick McEnroe will again often be paired in the TV booth.

In Tennis Channel’s second year of coverage the network offers viewers 73 hours of live tennis with air windows from 11am-7pm during the first five days of the tournament and more in week two.

Their talent team boasts Bill Macatee, Ted Robinson, Ian Eagle, Leif Shiras, Katrina Adams, Jimmy Arias, Justin Gimelstob, Corina Morariu, Cari Champion along with Jimmy Connors, Martina Navratilova, Lindsay Davenport and Tracy Austin.

The year’s final Grand Slam on the tennis calendar is as wide open a field as ever. The men’s favorite is against 5-time champion Roger Federer. But the Swiss’s form has been in decline in Slam play this year after failing to reach the semifinals in his last two majors. Federer will be chased by the surging Andy Murray, World No. 1 Rafael Nadal, Serb Novak Djokovic and American Andy Roddick.

Two-time women’s champion Serena Williams will be absent from the 2010 event. The World No. 1 is still recovering from right foot surgery. Defending champion Kim Clijsters does return along with a host on contenders including Caroline Wozniacki, Russians Elena Dementieva, Vera Zvonareva and Svetlana Kuznetsova along with Jelena Jankovic, Victoria Azarenka, Sam Stosur and Venus Williams.

US Open live streaming online will be available in select areas on ESPN3.com and on USOpen.org. Check your listings.

Von Says:

Staff: Thanks for posting the USO schedule. It’s very much appreciated.

I wonder if Serena will be suing the restaurant for negligence, that is, if they were indeed negligent, for the cut on her foot/ankle. If she does sue and wins, she most probably could be compensated a similar amount to her USO earnings, assuming, of course, that she did win. Anyway, it’s all pure conjecture.
