Roger Federer Practices with Pete Sampras Ahead of Indian Wells [Photos]
It’s Davis Cup weekend but Roger Federer has his sights set on another Indian Wells title. The tournament starts late next week and Federer may not play until the weekend, but the Swiss is already in California preparing for the Masters 1000 tournament.
Earlier today, Federer was in Los Angeles practicing with another familiar tennis great, Pete Sampras.
Here are some pictures from their morning session (from Grant Chen):
The legends reportedly hit for two hours before taking a break. “Had a great hit today with Pete Sampras….” Federer posted on his Facebook page. Last night he had written, “Just got to Los Angeles for some days of training before Indian Wells….trying to organize a couple of hits with the ‘pistol’…”
Yesterday, Federer hit with Frenchman Adrien Puget who plays for UCLA.
Federer has 16 Grand Slams, Sampras 14 for a total of 30. After his MSG win Monday night over Andre Agassi, Sampras is scheduled to play in the Zurich senior event next week.
Federer will be the No. 2 seed at the BNP Open. The draw will be out on Monday or Tuesday.
