Former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro was joined by fellow tennis stars Richard Gasquet, Frederico Gil, Maria Kirilenko and Maria Joao Koehler for a brief bicycle tour around the coastal city of Cascais.

It’s funny to see the 6-foot-6 gentle giant Del Potro on a bike, but he looked comfortable and made it unscathed.

The players met the Vice Mayor of Cascais, Miguel Pinto Luiz, before hopping onto bicycles, provided by the city of Cascais’ public bicycle program, Bicas, and taking a tour of the old world town. They then boarded a vintage yacht in the Cascais Marina to be greeted by city officials.

“The scenery of the city is very beautiful and it was nice to ride along the water with Richard and Frederico,” said defending champion del Potro.

Gasquet said, “It was very nice to visit the city. I enjoyed it a lot.”

Del Potro is the defending champion at Estoril.

Earlier in the week, several players took advantage of the nearby water for a quick sail.

He looked good, dari. Won 6-1,6-0. Well, he was playing Rui Machado. But still…serve and forehand good.

Mark @ Tennisopolis Says:

JMDP looked sharp this week. Bike ride or not, he is going to take Isner on a ride in Madrid. ;-)
