Wearing a traditional Scottish kilt, Andy Murray married his longtime girlfriend Kim Sears this afternoon in Dublane, Scotland.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds left for Cromlix House Hotel, which Murray purchased in 2013 and converted into a luxury hotel. They drove down the streets of Dunblane, past shops that were decorated specifically for their special day, waving to onlookers as they headed to their celebration.

Murray, 27, and Sears, 26, have been a couple since meeting at the US Open in 2005. Sears was at the Open along with her father, Nigel, who is a coach. Murray and Sears already share a home in Surrey with their two dogs, Maggie and Rusty.

Congrats to the happy couple.

May Your Marriage Be Blessed with Peace & Prosperity.

WELL DONE YOU MARRIED THE WOMAN YOU LOVE NOT A PREGNANCY, as seem to be the norm with some of your Tennis Colleague. You Display The True Value Of Love & Affection. Congratulations, Congratulation, Congratulations. Peace & LOVE.

Humble Rafa Says:

Congratulations to Mr. Lady Forehand and Ms. Profanity. There is nothing better than a profane forehand.

Men should not wear skirts in public. It’s just not right. Uncle Toni says that stuff is for the bedroom.

chris ford1 Says:

Jags with suicide doors. Nice! Hail in the morning, sun, brief rain and wind causing mimi chaos with the people outside waiting at the Cathedral, sun for the wedding. How Scottish!
I linked on the MC Draw article to the BBC updated photos and the quite clever Tweet by Andy linking a series of about 50 emoticons together to described what he thinks his wedding day will unfold like. Here it is again:

Thanks for sharing. Andy is a virtual royalty in his hometown. Glad to see how much he is loved and appreciated by his own townsfolk … and many other outside, like his fans here in Tennis-x. Congratulations and best wishes to the newlyweds!

Hippy Chick Says:

Lovely to see Ross Hutchins looking the picture of health after what hes been through, hes a handsome guy….

Okiegal Says:

Andy looking mighty happy today!! Congratulations to the happy couple!!

Colin Says:

Thank goodness Kim was able to show her hair instead of covering it with a silly little hat like the one she wore to the Palace.

Tim Henman has put some weight on and is beginning to look middle aged, though he’s only 40. Mind you, back in the day forty WAS middle age, and anything over sixty was old age!

To complete my gossip contribution, I must say Judy Murray’s hat was just daft.

danica Says:

Congratulations to Andy and Kim! May their union be blessed and happy :).

I love it that he wore kilt.

Margot Says:

Long life and happiness to Andy and Kim.
Oh, and a few more slams for Andy would be nice too!
Pax CDP ;)

Michael Says:

Hearty congratulations to Andy and Kim for a healthy, happy and prosperous married life. Andy is looking great in that Scottish attire.

KatH Says:

@ Colin
Agree – Judy looked great but oh that hat – a twist too many. But they all looked great – Andy so happy, Kim too and so so lovely.
Heartfelt good wishes to them

Hippy Chick Says:

When both of my nephews were married the both wore kilts even as best men, they also wore kilts to a wedding as pageboys when they were both little….

Hippy Chick Says:

Colin thats such sad news,so sorry for the family :(….

Colin Says:

Sorry that got posted twice. It sometimes takes me two tries to get something posted, then another time it appears first go and I don’t know it.
Technology – sheesh!

Margot Says:

@Colin
Strange cos this site very bossily tells me off if I’ve “duplicated” and usually stops me.

Hippy Chick Says:

Marget yeah me too….

Hippy Chick Says:

Sorry meant Margot not Marget….

jane Says:

congrats to andy and kim.
sad about the photographer.
these beginnings and endings makes me think of eliot: “what we call the beginning is often the end. and to make an end is to make a beginning. the end is where we start from.”

Margot Says:

@Happy
Marget is cool. ;)
@jane
Love Eliot, “April is the cruelest month.”

Hippy Chick Says:

Margot and you called me Happy instead of Hippy lol ;)….

margot, “and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well when the tongues of flames are in-folded into the crowned know of fire and the fire and the rose are one.”

RZ Says:

Congrats to the happy couple! So nice to see the crowds turning out to support their local boy.

Hippy Chick – I also noticed that Ross Hutchins looked really good in the pic. It looks like he has gained back the weight he had lost while ill.

Sidney Says:

Congrats to the newlyweds!

Although I agree with HR. The ‘skirt’ looks out of place. He looks like school girl.

Kim lovely as usual!

Nirmal Kumar Says:

Congratulations to Andy and Kim for a healthy and prosperous married life.

Margot Says:

PS
And probably the best article I’ve ever read about Andy.

KatH Says:

@ Margot
Thank you for that link – extremely moved by it.

KatH Says:

Kim’s Dress – The Telegraph….??? Are they implying ……????

Hippy Chick Says:

Margot nice article,so glad he didnt go down the celebrity kitsch root of the OK or Hello magazine photoshoots, many thanks i hope they have a happy marraige together, best of luck Andy and Kim ;-)….

Wog Boy Says:

“Margot nice article,so glad he didnt go down the celebrity kitsch root of the OK or Hello magazine photoshoots…”

Does that mean that Nole did “go down the celebrity kitsch root”?

Markus Says:

Margot, thanks for sharing that nice article about Andy. He’s a good guy who deserves that good write-up. Kudos to the author for highlighting all that’s good about Andy as a man and not just as an athlete. In this increasingly cynical world, it’s a welcome treat to read something very positive.

chris ford1 Says:

HC – I defy you to turn your nose up on the Djokovics when you know what they did. They (meaning mainly Jelena) shopped around to see if the news tabloids had any takers that would pay for exclusive rights…like they do to the tune of millions for celebrities.
“Hello” bid 1 million Euros plus added more security.
The couple then donated it to charity – Nole’s Foundation. Where it came in handy with the rebuild from the once in a century floods that hit Bosnia, Serbia, and a few parts of Croatia.

Pretty slick (and selfless) move by Jelena and Novak Djokovic.
(most celebs pocket some or most of the money from “exclusive” rights deals.)

Markus Says:

What Novak and Jelena did was selfless and beneficial to so many others who needed help. There is no reason to denigrate their decision. As chris ford1 intimated, it was a noble act.

What couples decide to do about their wedding should not be a concern to anybody else especially if such action in no way hurts any outside person. Murray’s wedding was some sort of a personal gift to his hometown to blunt the horrible memory of the Dublaine incident. Djokovic’s was to give financial assistance to those who need it. If you look at their backgrounds, the wars and turmoil in Serbia for Djokovic; the Dublaine killings for Murray, you will see that both made good decisions on how to handle their respective weddings.

Comparing these two wedding and being derogatory to one makes no sense at all.

Wog Boy Says:

^^ respect

jane Says:

i agree. they were each lovely in their own way.

Wog Boy Says:

CF1,
Just for the record, in the last six months Novak Djokovic Foundation rebuilt and reopened four kindergartens that had been destroyed or badly damaged by floods, two in Serbia (Obrenovac and Svilajnac) and two in Bosnia (Ε amac and Sanski Most), there is no state or religious barriers for Nole.

Sorry Andy’s fans for hijacking your thread.

Margot Says:

Well, it is a shame this thread got hijacked.
Just for the record, Andy and Kim told friends and family not to give gifts, but to donate to a couple of charities, one of which was UNICEF.
@KatH
Felt the same. Thought the article really “got” Andy.

Hippy Chick Says:

Markus/Wogboy/Jane/Chris Ford1 I wasnt derogatory at all i was just glad he didnt go down that road,Chris Ford1 you were the one who brought up Novak first not me,and from that everyone started to attack me,they all do stuff for their own respective foundations, which is fantastic as they are doing this for the greater good of mankind, many everyday normal folk give to charities everyday,so i just dont fawn or make a big issue about it,and this has nothing to do with Novak either just a generalisation,….

Sorry i realize i shouldnt have said anything now,i didnt expect so many people to get so upset by one little comment,i just thought this was an open forum where posters were entitled to have an oppinion i guess i was wrong?….

Sorry Margot for hyjacking the thread….

Hippy Chick Says:

Margot many thanks for the yummy picture on the other thread ;~0..

Giles Says:

“Pretty slick (and selfless) move by Jelena and Novak
Djokovic”. Hmmm. You mean killing two birds with one stone, i.e. getting the $$$$$ for charity AND the publicity!!
