Bad boy Nick Kyrgios actually proved to his many critics that he is capable of sportsmanship. Early in his impressive 6-4, 6-4 win over Tomas Berdych, the 20-year-old told the Czech to challenge one his missed serves. And the Berdych followed Nick’s suggestion and got an ace out of it!

Next for the streaking Kyrgios is a date with Stan Wawrinka in the Dubai semifinals. The last time these two met Kyrgios made those infamous remarks about Stan’s girlfriend Donna Vekic.

“Since the incident. I think we’ve both moved on from it,” said Kyrgios. “We played on the same team in the IPTL. That was actually really good. I got to know him a little bit more.

“He played great there. He’s one of the best players in the world, no doubt. He’s playing great tennis.”

Can Kyrgios keep the run of good behavior going?

Both players are trying to reach their first Dubai final.

AndyMira Says:

Clearly there’s still some humanity in him..he’s just a teenager who happened to have a lot of raging hormones and don’t know how to spent it..heck..justin bieber did a lot worse than him and still be treated like a king!

Markus Says:

I’m watching theThiem-Dimitrov match and I feel say in saying that neither of these guys is the future of men’s tennis. Kyrgios may just be that man.

Markus Says:

“safe” not “say”.

Margot Says:

RZ where are you? I want your confident prediction of the outcome of the Nick/Stan match, based entirely on your opinion of Stan’s choice of colour scheme…;)

Van Persie Says:

Nick’game does not look good today. To many errors…and the back issue also..

AndyMira Says:

VP..it looks like our youngster going to lose today..

Van Persie Says:

I felt, he cannot be dangerous this week…now retired

AndyMira Says:

Well, two retirement in a row..what a shame..what amazed me is that he still young, his body still fresh but already plaguing with injuries..

Van Persie Says:

AM, I think he’s to fresh and he’s not used to play so many matches in a row. With the proper training program he could change that

Van Persie Says:

Congrats to Stan :)

AndyMira Says:

Yeah..a little bit worried though,at his age he shouldn’t have many problems with his body, once you got injured..they’ll keep coming at you..look at rafa,he sustained a serious injury since 2006 and never be free from it until he’s retire..same will goes with nick i think..and monfils..i guess some player has not been blessed with physical like nole and roger who rarely injured..

Van Persie Says:

Regarding Youngsters, I will have a look at Thiem now ;). Plays against Dimitrov.
Come on, Thiem!

AndyMira Says:

VP honey..Thiem already won against dimi this morning right?[my morning that is]..

Van Persie Says:

LOL AM, I notice only now I see the “replay”. They are showing it, before the Lopez_ Baghdatis match will start :D
You could have let me see the match and enjoy the victory live ;)

Van Persie Says:

^^ was to worried because of Nole, and did watch the results from the other tournaments

AndyMira Says:

I told you VP,i’m naive and want a little fun with you!he!he!

Van Persie Says:

I am your “sweettart” after all ;)

AndyMira Says:

VP!i can’t believe you smashed that magic words in my face again! Now i have to laugh some more..

Van Persie Says:

Some similarity between Nole and Thiem: make the same sound, when hitting the ball ;)

AndyMira Says:

But he has a very good manner right?Whether he makes some good winners or lose important points..he always cool..more federer like..he can go far with this attitude..

Emily Says:

Didn’t watch the match, but I can’t deny very pleased the result. Was Stan outplaying him or was that a legit retirement?

Van Persie Says:

AM, We all know, that Federer was not always cool, he”s coolness he’s not natural. But I admire him, that he has a good self control. Thiem is cool by nature ;)

Emily, It was not the best game from Stan, Nick made a lot of errors, I assume also due to the back issues. But it was a well deserved victory after all

AndyMira Says:

@Emily..stan was unbelievable today..but nick clearly look very uncomfortable out there..i bet if he healthy,we’ll be treated with a lot of firecracker shot today..but win is a win..and stan deserved it..hopefully he will win this tournament tomorrow..

Van Persie Says:

For AM: to be honest, I prefer Nole’s temper over Fed’s behavior. Matter of taste

AndyMira Says:

VP..you think who will win between lopez and baghdatis?

AndyMira Says:

VP..could you explain a little bit more about your statement considering nole’s temper and fed behaviour? What do you mean?

Van Persie Says:

I would be glad for each of them. I will not make a prediction.

Van Persie Says:

I do not mind seeing Nole expressing he’s emotions on court, he’s not rude for me.
Federer was also the kind kind of guy, who used to express he’s emotions on court, but only at the beginning of he’s career. He prefered to suppress them. But you always can see on his face, when he’s angry, happy, and so on…
Thiem is a natural cool guy, Federer not.
Only my opinion

AndyMira Says:

Ok..i respect your opinion very much vp..by the way i want lopez to win this match..i think he will give wawa some fight tomorrow..not that baghdatis won’t,but i think he also want to make a statement that despite winning”that way”against nole,he also deserve to be in the final with his own merit..

Van Persie Says:

I would be glad also for Baghdatis, if he would win. He had a great week. For Lopez the same

AndyMira Says:

VP,what a perfomance by both players right?

Van Persie Says:

It is an enjoyable match. Have to admit. Both very good baseline players

AndyMira Says:

Terrible TB so far from lopez..

Van Persie Says:

I expected him to win the TB, as he served better then Baghdatis, but this match deserves a 3 set ;)

AndyMira Says:

VP,can i ask you a personal question? Are you a male or female?Feel free to not answer it..

Van Persie Says:

Am a female :)

AndyMira Says:

Oh!thank you GOD!By the way..you’re right no matter who will go through tonight..they deserve it..both of them is amazing..

Van Persie Says:

AM, were you scared that I might flirt with you? :)..no worries, am already commited…to a man :)
I am 51% with Lopez and 49% with Bagdathis

AndyMira Says:

VP!scared? He!he!i’m happy if you flirt with me..but i’m afraid my husband will not!also my four kids..truth to be told..i’m very comfortable with female, they’re understand us much better than male..

Van Persie Says:

AM, I am not married, have no kids, have only a fiance…will make the big step this year…hope it will bring Nole luck, and he will win RG :)…doing this for him :)..joke

AndyMira Says:

VP..you know you make me laugh from yesterday, now i’m sitting in the dark smiling like an idiot..by the way i will welcome you to the wonderful world of married life with open arms..it is a big step but you can do it..i’ve done it for 22 years now..and i’m still alive..

Van Persie Says:

Congrats for Baghdatis!
Sorry for Lopez

Van Persie Says:

AM, Thank you very much and I wish you and your husband to add many, many years from now on to the 22 and all the best for your kids :)

AndyMira Says:

VP,why you sound like you wanna close the shop now..is it because the game was over or you wanna go somewhere or do something? In that case i wish you a very good weekend k?despite frustrations over nole yesterday..good day “SWEETHART”..

Van Persie Says:

AM, I will go out soon and have to prepare myself.
I am not frustrated because of Nole, it was only a game…he cannot win everything.
It was nice to caht with you;)
Wish you a lovely day or weekend, do not know, if I will be online tomorrow, perhaps for the finals :)
Byees xx

AndyMira Says:

Yeah,you too vp..

Green Lady Says:

Pulling for Stan, but nice to see Baggy playing so well again, and hope he can make it a competitive final.

AndyMira Says:

@Green Lady..can i ask you something?Are you GG?

Austin B Says:

I believe this is step in the right direction for Nick Kyrgios. After the display he had with Stan Wawrinka, and the penalty of not being able to play on tour for a month, this is a step in the right direction for Nick. He is a very talented player, but can be mentally weak and ignorant at times. Hopefully, with this action, nick has turned a new stone. I think he has the potential to be a top ten player, as he has proven with his impressive back to back wins against a very good Tomas Berdych.

This type of sportsmanship has come up a good bit in tennis recently. Jack Sock recently did the same thing as Kyrgios, against Lleyton Hewitt, and received a lot of props for it. I’m not sure if this influenced Nick to make his decision, or if he genuinely wanted to be honest, but regardless, there has been an ongoing trend in tennis recently with telling your opponent to challenge balls that are called incorrectly.
