Murray is the 26th player to reach No. 1 and the first British man to do it.
Federer is still rehabbing his surgically-repaired left knee but in expected back next month for the IPTL exo series in Asia. The Swiss former No. 1 will finish No. 16 in the ATP Rankings unless John Isner wins Paris, then he’ll slip to No. 17.
With the change at the top of the rankings, Federer’s record streak of 237 consecutive weeks at No. 1 is all but secure for the next 4-5 years and the chances of Djokovic passing him for the overall weeks at No. 1 (302 weeks) also slightly decreases.
So he should be happy for Andy, right?
