Americans went 0-2 Saturday in the Austin semifinals. Former Australian Open champion Danielle Collins fell in straight sets to 29-year-old Danielle Collins 6-4, 6-3.

The Ukrainian star broke Collins four times including a final break to take the match. And came from four breaks points down to take four of the last five games of the first set.

Kostyuk wins their first meeting at the tour level and it puts her into her first WTA final.

“Obviously a special moment, very emotional,” the 20-year-old Kostyuk told the WTA. “I lost four semifinals prior to this match today, and I didn’t know what to expect. Danielle is a great player, a great champion. Very happy that the match turned out this way today.”

Varvara Gracheva booked her spot with a thrilling win over 21-year-old Katie Volynets 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. There were 17 total breaks in the match with the Russian winning the last four games from 4-2 down and closing it out on a break to win it. And like Kostyuk, she too is in her first WTA final.

The two have split two head-to-head tour-level clashes; Gracheva won their last meeting in the 2021 Chicago quarterfinals.
