Alexandrova Edges Kudermetova In Thriller To Win Den Bosch Title
Ekaterina Alexandrova fought back from a set and a break down to defeat top seeded Veronika Kudermetova 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(7-3) and defend her Den Bosch title.
The 26-year-old Kudermetova was closing in on her second career title, leading 6-4 and 3-2 with a break before Alexandrova took four of the next five games.
In the third, neither player could convert break chances with Alexandrova holding multiple championship points before the breaker.
Alexandrova finished with nine aces to go along with eight doubles en route to her 5th career title.
The final was delayed by rain at the start and again in the middle of the first set.
Last year, Alexandrova topped Aryna Sabalenka for the title. She’s won her last 10 matches at the event, dropping just one set.
