Injuries Mount Ahead Of Wimbledon – Sabalenka, Jabeur, Rybakina Added To List
With just nine days to go before Wimbledon begins, there’s a growing list of wounded.
Novak Djokovic is still rehabbing his knee and Andy Murray will go under the knife to fix a back issue. Both still haven’t ruled out Wimbledon — even Murray so soon after surgery!
The women’s field is getting hit harder. Today in Berlin, world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka had to retire with a shoulder injury. Ons Jabeur also had to retire down a set to Coco Gauff because the 2-time Wimbledon finalist was feeling ill.
Yesterday, former Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina pulled out just four games into her quarterfinal with Victoria Azarenka due to an ab injury. And defending Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova was forced out of the event with a hip injury.
The good news, at east for the men, is both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner appear to be back fully healthy.
