Jannik Sinner is fulled formed. A complete player at just 23. And today at the US Open, he’ll go for his second Grand Slam title of the season against Taylor Fritz.

Sinner has been dominant on hard courts this year winning the Australian Open coming from two sets down in the final. And he followed winning Miami and last month taking Cincinnati. Sinner brushed off a doping case that just came to light before the start of the US Open and has only lost one set en route to his second Grand Slam final.

Sinner will now try to become the first Italian man to win the US Open. His countrywomen Flavia Pennetta and Roberto Vinci played for this title in 2015.

Taylor Fritz in enjoying his very best season finally breaking through the Slam quarterfinal block. The 26-year-old American with a big serve just ousted Frances Tiafoe Friday night in a 5-set cracker to reach his biggest career final.

But the Fritz has more. He has a win over Sinner at the 2021 Indian Wells event and he’s scored Top 5 wins in his last two Slams, twice upsetting Alexander Zverev.

Sinner is 15-4 in tournament finals as he tries to become the first world No. 1 to win the US Open since Rafael Nadal did it in 2017. Fritz would be the lowest ranked winner since 14th-seed Marin Cilic in 2015.

Fritz will try to become the first American man to claim a Grand Slam trophy since Andy Roddick at the 2003 US Open.

Kimmi Says:

Congrats Sinner. Once Alcaraz and Djokovic were beaten early, he was shoo-in to win the title. But to be the fav is one thing, and winning is another, so Congrats for going all the way Sinner.

chrisford1 Says:

Kind of a hum drum men’s final.
The woman’s final was far more interesting. Sabalenka was physically awesome and Pegula just fought and fought and nearly opened the match back up in the 2nd set.

skeezer Says:

Totally disagree. Hum drum? It was exciting to see Sinner battle through this tournament. He was dominant at times and a breath of fresh air to watch. Tennis is back.

Alison hodge Says:

Yes true, I’m dying to see a Sinner / Alcaraz final in a GS now, the new tennis rivalry in waiting, sharing the GS between them this year, congrats to both for raising the bar this year 😁
