Sick Sinner Out Of Paris Masters
Jannik Sinner was unable to hit a ball at the Paris Masters. The world No. 1 opted out of the final Masters event of the season due to a virus, the Italian said on Tuesday.
“It’s a very tough announcement,” Sinner said. “Obviously I’m not gonna play here in Paris. We came here, yeah, very early to prepare to the best possible way. After the first practice session, I really didn’t feel good. You know, I also talked with the doctor on Sunday, you know, it’s a virus, what makes you feel better in three, four days.
“Today I feel better already a little bit, but the body is not ready to compete and feel still very, very weak. It doesn’t make sense to go on court and trying to compete for this tournament.”
Sinner arrived into Paris after collecting a sum total of $7.5 million for playing two matches in Riyadh last week. He’ll now look forward to Turin as the Italian favorite next month.
