Federer takes an 8-2 lifetime record (winning the last seven) against Haas, who is appearing in the quarterfinals for the second straight year. Fish won the only previous meeting against Nalbandian nearly five years ago. Haas and Fish have both defeated three seeds en route to the quarterfinals.

Nalbandian is trying to become the first player (since 1990) to win three consecutive ATP Masters Series tournaments. The 26-year-old Argentine is unbeaten in his last 15 ATP Masters Series matches going back to Madrid and Paris wins at the end of 2007.
