Andy Murray Says If He Could Have Any Single Shot In Tennis He Would Take John Isner’s Serve
Following his 75, 64 win yesterday over Fernando Verdasco at Queen’s, Andy Murray was asked what shot he like to have from his fellow players, he said he’d take John Isner’s serve.
“Probably would be Isner’s serve, I think,” Murray said. “It makes the game a whole lot easier when you can serve like that. But, I mean, there is a bunch of guys that serve unbelievably well, but I think his first and second serve are ‑‑ probably that package is probably the best on the tour. Yeah, I would say that.”
Murray will play longtime mate Gilles Muller today in the quarterfinals. If Murray wins he could face Isner in the semifinals tomorrow.
“I have known him a long time,” Murray said. ‘We are not unbelievably close, but obviously I’ve spent quite a lot of time with Jamie and I watch a lot of Gilles’ matches through that. Obviously want him to do well. Yeah, he’s a very nice guy, quiet guy but good fun. Yeah, I mean, I have spent more time with him the last year than I have previously. But I have known him for a number of years now.”
The 3-time champion has the services of Jonas Bjorkman this week at the event.
“I have always said that with all of the new coaches I have worked with, I just give it a little bit of time, we will see, but I get on well with him,” Murray said. “He gets on very well with the team. He’s obviously very knowledgeable about the game, as well.”
