Rafael Nadal Plans To Play Wimbledon, Confirms He’ll Be A Father
Those reports that Rafael Nadal wasn’t playing Wimbledon from a few weeks ago turned out to be 100% false.
The now 14-time French Open champion held a press conference today confirming that his foot pain is subsiding and his plan is to play Wimbledon in 10 days.
“[Treatment] done in Barcelona is not a 100% immediate thing, but changes are noticeable,” Nadal said. “I have noticed them, strange sensations, my joint pain has decreased.
“My intention is to play Wimbledon, to travel to London on Monday.”
Nadal, who twice won Wimbledon, will go into the event for the first time in his career halfway to the calendar Grand Slam. It will be his first Wimbledon appearance since 2019 when he lost to Roger Federer in four sets.
The 36-year-old also confirmed to the press that his wife, Maria Francisca Perello, is expecting a child.
Nadal will also play in the Hurlingham exhibition event next Tuesday in London. He has already been practicing on the grass at the Mallorca event ahead of its tournament next week.
