Cameron Norrie returns to Lyon where he’s made the final the last two years winning in 2022 defeating Alex Molcan in the final.

The Brit is the second seed behind former finalist Felix Auger-Aliassime who is the top seed.

Both have struggled on the clay. Norrie just 4-4 these last two months while the Canadian lost in his first match at both Madrid and Rome.

Third seed Tommy Paul, a former French junior champion, went 0-3 in tour-level clay matches but did make the Aix En Provence challenger final losing to Andy Murray.

Overall, the top seeds are: 1 Felix Auger Aliassime, 2 Cameron Norrie, 3 Tommy Paul, 4 Francisco Cerundolo, 5 Miomir Kecmanovic, 6 Sebastian Baez, 7 Richard Gasquet, 8 Brandon Nakashima.

No. 1 Auger-Aliassime is projected to meet 7 Gasquet in his quarterfinal, No. 3 Paul – 8 Nakashima, No. 5 Kecmanovic – 4 Cerundolo and 6 seed Baez – 2 Norrie in the bottom quarter.

The semifinals could see Felix Auger Aliassime-Tommy Paul and Cameron Norrie-Francisco Cerundolo. Cerundolo is coming off a good Rome event where he stunned home favorite Jannik Sinner.

The top seeded Auger Aliassime has a bye then awaits the winner of Max Purcell-Pablo Llamas Ruiz.

The second seeded Norrie has a bye as well then sees either Goffin or Alvaro Lopez San Martin.

Former finalist and fan favorite Gael Monfils also is in the draw. He’ll face Pedro Cachin in a tough opener.

Play opened today with young Brit Jack Draper coming through. The 21-year-old Draper is coming back after missing a month with an ab injury.
