From indoors to blue clay to red clay, the Madrid Masters has seen it all during its short history.

The biggest event in the tennis-crazed country of Spain begins the week of April 22 in Madrid, home of the Caja Magica (aka “The Magic Box”).

Rafael Nadal and new Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz had reigned while the women’s event, which only was elevated to this level in 2009, saw Petra Kvitova win three titles.

Who Are The Men’s Betting Favorites?

With Novak Djokovic out, Rafael Nadal far from his best and Carlos Alcaraz still iffy with an arm issue, it looks to be a wide open men’s field.

Jannik Sinner and the surging Stefanos Tsitsipas figure as the favorites along with the steady Casper Ruud and Daniil Medvedev.

Who Are The Women’s Betting Favorites?

Despite her unbeaten run ending in Stuttgart, Iga Swiatek is still the best on clay in the women’s game. In the altitude, though, perhaps Elena Rybakina could win another clay event, and big-hitting Aryna Sabalenka is a 2-time Madrid winner.

Coco Gauff, Maria Sakkari and Marketa Vondrousova also look to be contenders.

The tournament begins on Tuesday, April 23.

Latest odds to soon follow.

How Do You Read Madrid Masters Odds?

Understanding sports odds in general can be a dauting challenge for many fans. For tennis odds, when there is a plus sign (+), that indicates how much money you would win putting $100 down.

When there is a minus sign (-), that means you have to put that much down to win $100.

So at the Madrid Masters, if Carlos Alcaraz is +150, that means if you bet $100, if he won again you would get back $250 ($100 for your bet plus the $150 in winnings). If Iga Swiatek was -250 to win the Madrid Masters, and you put $250 down, if Swiatek won the title you would get back $350 ($250 in your initial bet plus $100 for the win).

When reading fractional odds -- let's say Novak Djokovic is 5/2 -- the first number (in this case 5) is the profit and the second number (in this case 2) is what you need to put down to get that. So if you put $2 down on Djokovic, you would get back $7 in total if he won ($2 is your bet plus the $5 for winning).

Now if Aryna Sabalenka was 2/7, if you put $7 down and she won you would get back $9 ($7 your initial bet plus $2 for the win).
