Is The Grigor Dimitrov – Maria Sharapova Romance Over? Is Nikoleta Lozanova The Reason Why?

It’s been a busy day of rumors for Grigor Dimitrov. First there’s speculation he might hire Ivan Lendl as his next coach. And now there’s a “confirmation” that his two-and-a-half year relationship with WTA superstar and global brand Maria Sharapova is over.

“Rumors of Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov splitting up have been confirmed,” tweeted ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

Why Rovell, a business reporter at ESPN, would break the news is odd. But the Bulgarian news outlet Dunavmost.bg, went further, suggesting Dimitrov cheated on the Russian during Wimbledon for a fling with Bulgarian playmate of the year (and wife of a footballer) Nikoleta Lozanova!

Maria found out, and it’s over. Sharapova has since also taken a Porche car back from Dimitrov.

Two years ago Dimitrov was part of a Wimbledon Serena-Sharapova rift as the American alleged Maria was dating a guy with a “black heart”. The comment comes after April 2012 rumors that Dimitrov and Serena were romantically involved.

Sharapova and Dimitrov began dating at the start of 2013.

django Says:

I don’t believe they were ever involved. PR stunt?

Gypsy Gal Says:

Well i dont like cheating, but on the other hand they are not married or engaged,so i dont think their relationship was serious, unless others know different?….

Gypsy Gal Says:

Nice looking woman,i thought it was Eva Longaria at first….

Humble Rafa Says:

Though he belongs to the wrong tribe, I think Mr.No Mind made the right call here.

RZ Says:

I always thought it was an odd relationship based on the age difference. If they were in their 30s I wouldn’t have thought that. But a 26 year-old woman with a 21 year-old man always seemed weird to me. But I guess the heart wants what the heart wants and they were together for quite a long time.

Jack Lewis Says:

“But a 26 year-old woman with a 21 year-old man always seemed weird to me”

So your bar for weird is really low!!!

Humble Rafa Says:

26 year-old woman with a 21 year-old man

who is the woman you are referring to in this case?

Jatt Says:

26 year with a 21 year.. Is that a too big difference ? I don’t think so…

Wog Boy Says:

It is only four years age difference, I don’t see problem in that part of their relationship, but rather the she is who she is and he is yet to get there (titles, fame, popularity and so on), makes you feel less worth than your female partner, I know we are equal but the world is not perfect.

skeezer Says:

This is not a Tennis thread obviously. This is all dirty laundry / drama / Dr Phil TV material. Guess this is the new world if you don’t watch soap operas you talk about this stuff.
Wake me up when Grigor and Maria start hitting tennis balls on a tennis court.

danica Says:

She is vacationing in Montenegro. Where is Dimi?

Gypsy Gal Says:

RZ My hubby is 7 years older than me,just wondering if thats weird,or is it only when its women dating younger men,im a big fan of the luverly Mr Hugh Jackman whose wife i believe is quite the cougar and 13 years older than Hugh(lucky lady)lol….

Jock-KatH Says:

GG – Hope it’s not weird because my hubby is more than 7 years older than me. It should be irrelevant across the sexes.

calmdownplease Says:

Yaawwwnn!!!!!!

Put it away Grigor, please!
No one with a brain gives a rats a*s anyway
Fake showmances FFS
Or do you realise now that your tennis can’t do the talking for you.

Bhuhan Says:

age doesn’t its shear numbers … state of mind is important ..

Colin Says:

Thanks, Skeezer, yours is the voice of sanity. As soon as I saw the headline, I thought “THIS is a ‘top story’, is it?”. Is this a tennis website, or a tabloid paper?

At the risk of pandering to the trivia mongers, I might point out that Federer’s wife is a few years his senior, and their relationship hasn’t done too badly.

Okiegal Says:

I didn’t know Mirka was older than Fed. I’m older than my hubby too……we still together!! Ain’t love grand. :)

Patricia Pascoe Says:

He got sick of the screeming like the rest of us

RZ Says:

@Jack Lewis, Gypsy Gal, Wog Boy, and Jatt – it’s not the 4 or 5 year difference by itself that I find odd. I just find it odd that he was only 21 when they started dating. The maturity level of a 21 year old male is usually completely different than that of a 25 or 26 year old female, even more so when you consider their backgrounds and life experience up to that point in time. (Of course all of this is based on what I perceive their backgrounds and experience to be since I’m going on what the media says about them). Had they been those ages but had been living in the same town for most of their lives, I wouldn’t have found it so odd.

Wog Boy Says:

RZ,
You do have a point.

I didn’t know about Mirka being cougar, Federer was 19 when she seduced him during Sydney Olympic games, she was 22, good choice Mirka:)

Markus Says:

I think we just got so used to the norm that that male should be older than the female. It is understandable why in the past because the man had to be the provider and protector to his family and the woman had to provide him with children, hence has to be able to bear them for a long period of time, ergo younger. But all that has changed now, so differences in age, male vs female and vice versa, no longer carry the same significance as it did in the past. We are still hung up on the stereotype but that too shall pass.
