Novak Djokovic has now won his last 13 matches as the Serb rolled past former US Open quarterfinal Botic Van De Zandschulp 6-3, 6-1.

Djokovic has dropped just six games in four sets thus far and he’s won his last 13 matches in tournament play, and hasn’t dropped serve in his last 3.

“I think my serve worked very well when I needed to get out of the trouble in the first set particularly,” said Djokovic. “There were some 30/30 games, and when I broke his serve for 4-2, I faced a break point and I came in, and he had a look at that passing shot and he missed it. The match is decided in these moments. 5-2 or 4-3 up there is a big difference, and I served well to end the first set.”

Djokovic might have a Russian route ahead. Tomorrow in the quarters he’ll face Karen Khachanov with a semifinal date with Daniil Medvedev potentially on Saturday.

Medvedev advanced past Emil Ruusuvuori 6-3, 6-2. He’ll now face Roberto Bautista Agut on Friday.

“He’s just a great player, always close to Top 10. I feel like maybe he’s a little bit more shaky, I don’t know, in Grand Slam later stages because otherwise I don’t see why he is not in the Top 5 from time to time,” Medvedev said of the Spaniard. “I’m happy that I managed to beat him once this year. This can give me a little bit of feedback on what I have to do to beat him and that’s what I’m going to try to do tomorrow.”

Hubert Hurkacz also advanced, he’ll now face Stefanos Tsitsipas. Andrey Rublev will take on Adrian Mannarino.

In Tokyo, Nick Kyrgios joined Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinals. Kyrgios came from a set down to defeat Kamil Majchrzak. He’ll now get Fritz who also won in three sets.

“Losing the first set, there was never really a doubt in my mind that I was going to win the match,” Kyrgios said. “I just had to get back to doing what I do well, that’s playing quick and aggressive tennis.

“I’ve got really good confidence in my game right now, so I don’t really doubt myself even when I’m down a set. I think playing Grand Slams and going far in Grand Slams has given me that confidence that even if I lose a set I’m still able to maintain and increase my level in the match.”

US Open semifinalist Frances Tiafoe won his 13th straight tiebreaker upending Bernabe Zapata Miralles 6-1, 7-6(7).

Tiafoe will take on Miomir Kecmanovic. Borna Coric will also collide with Denis Shapovalov.
