Who holds the record for the most first round match wins at the US Open? The Answer is, it’s the great Jimmy Connors who went 20-2 in the first round at the US Open tennis event.

Connors’s lost in the first round two of the first three times he played at the event in 1970 and 1972 when the US Open was held on grass.

After Connors, the Roger Federer was a perfect 19-0 and then Novak Djokovic is 18-0. That’s coming into the 2025 US Open.

Former 2014 winner Marin Cilic is 13-1, Carlos Moya 12-1 and Rafael Nadal was 16-0.

None of the Big 3 tennis stars – Djokovic, Nadal, Federer – have ever lost in the first round at the US Open.
