Gonzalez, Massu Headline Chile vs. Sweden in Team Cup

The U.S. plays Argentina on Centre Court 1 and Chile battles Sweden on Centre Court 2 Tuesday. James Blake of the U.S. takes on Argentine Agustin Calleri for the second time (Calleri leads 1-0) and Mardy Fish faces Jose Acasuso for the first time. On Centre Court 2, No. 1 Chilean Fernando Gonzalez is 3-3 lifetime against Robin Soderling while Nicolas Massu and Jonas Bjorkman are tied 1-1.

First up on Centre Court 1 are Blake, No. 8 in the ATP Rankings, and No. 29 Calleri, who won their previous meeting 64 62 in the first round of ATP Masters Series Madrid in 2002.

Blake, 27, opened the season 12-2, but since then has compiled a 9-9 mark. He defended his crown at Sydney in January (d. Moya) and reached the final at Delray Beach in February (l. to Malisse). His best result on clay was a semifinal finish at Houston last month (l. to Zabaleta). He is 5-5 overall on clay in 2007.

Calleri, 30, won the decisive doubles point on Sunday (w/Chela) as Argentina defeated Sweden 2-1. He has a 14-10 match record this year, reaching the semifinals in Auckland (l. to Robredo), Acapulco (l. to Chela) and Barcelona (l. to Canas). He is one of four Argentines in the ATP Top 30 Rankings.

Also on Centre Court 1, Fish, ranked No. 31, plays No. 45 Acasuso for the first time.

Fish, 25, is 1-4 on clay this year and he lost 64 76(1) to Nicolas Massu on Monday. He started the season with a 12-4 mark, but since is 1-5. He has reached two semifinals this year: at Auckland in January (l. to Ferrer) and at Memphis in February (l. to Haas). He also made it to his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the Australian Open in January (l. to Roddick).

Acasuso, 23, opened with a three-sets win over Swede Jonas Bjorkman on Sunday, and he enters with a 12-10 match record on the season. His best results this year are the quarterfinals in Acapulco (l. to Chela) and Casablanca (l. to Mathieu).

On Centre Court 2, Massu, ranked No. 49, opens play against No. 38 Bjorkman. The duo split their previous two meetings. .

Massu, 27, is 12-9 on clay this year, 13-13 overall. On Monday, he defeated Mardy Fish 64 76(1). He was runner-up at Vina del Mar in February (l. to Horna) and reached the third round at Rome this month (l. to Gonzalez). His sole hard court win came in his first tournament of the year – at Auckland (d. Ferrero).

Bjorkman, 35, is the oldest player in the ATP Top 100 Rankings. On Sunday, he opened with a three-sets loss to Jose Acasuso. The Swede is 6-10 on the season and his best result came in Marseille where he reached the quarterfinals (l. to Simon).

Gonzalez, 26, opened play on Monday with a 64 75 win over No. 8 James Blake .Two weeks ago he reached his second final of the year in Rome (l. to Nadal). He also was runner-up at the Australian Open in January (l. to Federer). For those two events, his record is 10-2. For the rest of the year he is only 9-7. He did advance to the quarterfinals of Hamburg last week (l. to Nadal).

Soderling, 22, opened on Sunday with a 61 64 victory over Juan Ignacio Chela. The No. 1 Swede at No. 28 in the ATP Rankings enters with a 21-10 match record on the season. His best results are the semifinals in Doha (l. to Ljubicic), Marseille (l. to Simon) and Dubai (l. to Youzhny). His best clay finish was the quarterfinals at ATP Masters Series Monte-Carlo last month (l. to Berdych).
